Call Super debuts on Throne Of Blood with No Episode
Call Super will join Throne Of Blood’s ever blossoming international roster next month with the No Episode EP featuring remixes from John Heckle and Madteo.
We’ve known about Call Super’s Throne Of Blood induction for a while now, with the label a good fit for the Berlin-based producer who impressed so much with his debut release, last year’s Staircase EP on Five Easy Pieces. The New York label has maintained a sturdy release schedule over the course of 2012, calling on talent from both sides of the Atlantic with notable releases from Daniel Avery, Mr Saturday Night’s Eamon Harkin, Belfast upstarts Bicep and Crown Castle Cuts artist Luv Jam.
The forthcoming release continues to chart Call Super’s journey through “hallucinatory club music” drawing from a palette of styles that includes techno, electro and electronica across two all new productions in “No Fun” and “No Fool”. For the remixes, Call Super took an intriguing approach, as disclosed in the podcast he did for us earlier this year: “Most of what I gave John and Matteo to work with was tiny loops and samples rather than long stems as I had written song type pieces and wanted something very different to accompany them on the release.” The results more than merit this approach, with Madteo’s Cosa C’e’sotto Bemix of “No Fun” a typically grinding, low slung affair filled with trippy edits, while Heckle expands his limited source material into “a swirling monster of warped arpeggios and flying cymbals”.
Throne Of Blood will release No Episode by Call Super on November 19.
