Blackest Ever Black and Desire ready Ike Yard remixes

Blackest Ever Black and Desire have joined forces to release a 12″ single featuring Regis and Monoton remixes of iconic New York no wave outfit Ike Yard.

In its original guise, Ike Yard (aka Michael Diekmannm Stuart Argabright, Kenny Compton and Fred Szymanski) were active from 1979-1983, releasing one EP with Belgian imprint Disques du Crépuscule and a self-titled long player through Factory America – a sub-label of Tony Wilson’s Factory Records – in 1982, with the latter set for a vinyl reissue this Autumn via Desire. The band reformed in 2010 without Szymanski and released its second full length album last year after a 28 year hiatus.

The pattering, skeletal Regis remix first reached Juno Plus ears after it was played by Minimal Wave boss Veronica Vasicka on her East Village radio slot last month. It will appear alongside a remix from veteran multimedia artist Konrad Becker aka Monoton, whose dub version is described on the Blackest Ever Black website as ” preserving the sound and spirit of the original parts, twisting them into a compulsive groove wrought out of desiccated breakbeats, wailing synths and immense sub-bass detonations”.

Blackest Ever Black and Desire Records will release Ike Yard – Regis/Monoton Versions in September 2012.

Tracklisting:

A. Ike Yard – Loss (Regis Version)
B. Ike Yard – NCR (Monoton Dub)
