Pariah & Midland next up on Works The Long Nights
Details of the next release on the Blawan and Pariah’s imprint Works The Long Nights have emerged, a collaboration between Pariah and Midland.
Consisting of two tracks, “Untitled 01” and “Untitled 02″, the vinyl only release will be the third for the label that launched with a release from Blawan and Pariah collaboration Karenn, and the more recent 12” from Irish producer Sunil Sharpe. Although Pariah’s move from garage influenced sounds towards 4/4 techno has been well documented over the past year, Midland has made his name over the past year with a raft of impressive deep house productions on Aus Music. This collaboration is a long time coming with one of the tracks dating back at least a year, as evidenced by the obligatory radio rip appearing on YouTube last September.
Clips of the release have been uploaded to Pariah’s Soundcloud page which can be streamed below, and although the have traces of the mechanoid lumberings of the Karenn project and the intricate sound design of the producer’s recent Rift EP, it would seem that Midland’s influence has brought a deeper influence to the fore that recalls the productions of Berlin’s Fachwerk stable or Ostgut Ton mainstays Marcel Dettman and Ben Klock, though comparisons could just as easily be made to the uniquely dense collaborations of Joy Orbison and Boddika.
No release date has been confirmed as yet, but the tracks will be released on 12″ vinyl only.
