Nicolas Jaar readies debut album
Joining the likes of Discodeine, Egyptrixx and James Blake as artists with rather exciting debut albums set for release in the virgin months of 2011 is Nicolas Jaar, with the young New York dwelling Chilean prepping Space Is Only Noise for a February release.
Jaar has enjoyed an inexorable rise in stock during the course of the year with a series of well received EPs on the labels such as Double Standard, Circus and Wolf & Lamb delivering on the promise he showed on his 2008 debut release The Student EP for the latter Brooklyn imprint overseen by Gadi & Zev.
Rich in instrumental detail and soaked in melancholic melody, Jaar’s production also embraces a willingness to broach sub 100 BPM territories as displayed to great effect on remixes for DJ T, Kasper Bjorke and most recently Matthew Dear.
Details of Space Is Only Noise have only just been announced and there is little in the way of a tracklisting though the associated press release promises that your senses will be plunged into the sea of Jaar’s influences such as golden age Factory records, home spun digitalism of Mille Plateaux, Endtroducing era DJ Shadow and Eric Satie. Those looking for a Jaar shaped Christmas present could do worse than check out the forthcoming Ines Compilation on his own Clown & Sunset imprint.
Nicolas Jaar will release Space Is Only Noise on February 14 via Circus Company.
