This Week At Juno
It’s been auspicious week for all things electronica, with fine releases from the likes of Actress, Kyle Hall, Tiger & Woods and of course a couple of sly reissues.
At Juno Records, there was some serious, no-nonsense techno from DJ Bone, plus a big Robert Hood reissue and a repress of James Ruskin’s Work 12″ on his own Blueprint label. There was also some delectable disco from the mysterious Tiger & Woods, as well as a killer EP on the always top notch Claremont 56 imprint.
There was a new EP from Kyle Hall, a young man who seems to be precocious, prodigious and prolific in equal measure. Be sure to check out the Must See EP, which we think is a must hear.
Over at Juno Download, the superlative Actress album Splazsh finally arrived, as we think it’s jaw droppingly good (check out our shamelessly complementary review here). But of course we musn’t forget Guido’s superb debut album, or the third part in Alaska’s Tolkien-esque triology of leftfield drum and bass.
There was also some long overdue new material from the man they call James Holden, a superbly obscure reissue of French funk band Cortex, and an eclectic offering from London based duo Mock & Toof.
As always, happy hunting…
