In a day and age when a band’s longevity seems to decrease with every rushed track, mystique can be a rare commodity, but nu-disco outfit Golden Filter have it by the bucketload.

Original releases from the New York duo have always been tantalisingly scarce, and their long-awaited new single “Thunderbird” doesn’t disappoint.

The track, which references the mythological bird of healing and purification in North American folklore, has a shimmery-yet-robust sound that the duo have perfectly complimented with lead singer Penelope’s sultry monologues and a DFA-inspired funk bassline.
