Helm & Decimus Will Meet At Other Human Parties

A new transatlantic collaboration from Luke Younger and Pat Murano will manifest on Opal Tapes.

Collaborations are not a shocking new concept in the field of electronic music, but there are of course many interesting possibilities for the way in which two artists will choose to merge their artistry. Just look at Best Available Technology, who had a jolly old time joining forces with BNJMN on Astro:Dynamics last year in a process of remote sonic tennis that yielded the logical album title De/Re-Constructions. Luke Younger (pictured above) is no stranger to collaborative work, having been in Birds Of Delay with Steven ‘Heatsick’ Warwick for more than ten years; his Helm project has been a distinctly solo effort since first appearing in 2006 however. Pat Murano meanwhile has done three albums with Tom Carter as well as being part of The No-Neck Blues Band amongst other groups, but his expansive Decimus project has remained a devout lone wolf across a staggering array of LPs released in the past five years.

Both Younger and Murano are breaking with tradition now as they present a joint effort, We Will Meet At Other Human Parties, for Opal Tapes. Due out next month, the two-track album is the result of audio being, “swapped about, mulched, recycled, played out live and loud and re-recorded to create not a album of remixes but of inter spliced mutant audio.” The title would suggest that this was more of a remote experience for the artists, who present themselves as Helm & Decimus for the occasion, although this has not been confirmed. Have a listen to some excerpts of the resulting music by way of the SoundCloud player below.

Opal Tapes will release We Will Meet At Other Human Parties by Helm & Decimus on May 27.
