Mix Mup unveils Molto project
Ominira will release an album of “freeform electronic miniatures” from the Leipzig artist called Versatile International Service in December.
Fans of Lorenz Lindner’s work as Mix Mup have been well served so far this year, with fine records for Meakusma and The Trilogy Tapes both arriving, whilst a self-released cassette has provided one of our favourite mixes of the year. This month will also see a new MM/KM 12″ from Lindner and fellow Leipzig artist Kassem Mosse arrive on a new joint label venture from Will Bankhead and skate brand Palace. Lindner and Mosse, aka Gunnar Wendel, are of course long-term friends and collaborators, working both as MM/M and Chilling The Do, with the latter an “improvised collage project” themed around ’90s chill out rooms that was a highlight of Berlin Atonal’s The Long Now event.
If you heard Mix Mup’s recent performance on Beats In Space you will be aware of two things; firstly Lindner is a superbly talented DJ, and secondly, he has completed work on a new album under a previously unheard alias. It has now been confirmed this project is called Molto, with Wendel’s Ominira label responsible for unleashing the album Versatile International Service next month. Consisting of material Lindner has recorded over the past five years in France and Germany, the 18-track album showcases Lindner’s interest in “experimental GBM and soundtrack styles” with track durations ranging from less than a minute to almost ten.
Ominira will release Versatile International Service by Molto in December.
