Hear Hüpnosaurus lose themselves on Wicked Bass

The Estonian duo ask Where Am I? on their new EP for the Ukranian label.

Comprised of Aivar Tõnso and drummer Railo Pals (later replaced by Raul ‘Ajukaja’ Saaramets), Hüpnosaurus – or Hypnosaurus depending on your fondness for umlauts – have retrospectively become regarded as the true electronic pioneers of Estonia. A forthcoming compilation profiling Tõnso and Pals’ earliest works is due on Saaramets’s Porridge Bullet label, and as he revealed in the discussion accompanying the fine Ajukaju & Andrevski podcast for Juno Plus earlier this year, Kiev label Wicked Bass have also been granted access to the Hüpnosaurus archives.

Next month will see Wicked Bass release the Where Am I? EP which features three Hüpnosaurus tracks rescued from their ‘lost ’90s tapes’ backed with a remix from Confused House man Bookworms. It makes for the latest in a fine run of releases for the Kiev label, who have recently been fielding sounds by Manuel Gonzales and PhOtOmachine amongst others. Indulge yourself with the tantalising clips for each track below.
