Unknown Precept go to Extremities

Profligate-590

The Berlin-based label will release a four-track EP by American artist Profligate.

In 2013 the Unknown Precept label announced its arrival in extravagant fashion with the release of The Black Ideal, an eight track compilation of industrial techno that took in music by Ancient Methods, Shifted, Svreca and AnD, among others. The label has since put out records by destructive Belgium artist Damaskin, debuted Maoupa Mazzocchetti, and provided a platform for the music of American noise maker Nick Klein to be heard by a wider techno audience. Unknown Precept now welcome Philadelphia-based artist Profligate, real name Noah Anthony, to the label with a four-track EP of slamming electronics called Extremities.

Prior to making his way to Unknown Precept, Anthony’s music has appeared on labels Gooiland Elektro and Not Not Fun Records, with last year’s Finding The Floor LP released by the latter. Anthony is also a member of experimental noise trio Form a Log (see last year’s For The Record LP for Bathetic Records) and Social Junk. An accompanying press release sees Unknown Precept explain the music of the forthcoming Extremities EP as “a clash between convulsive rhythms and spasmodic sounds, hammering and twisting the tempo throughout unforgiving techno grooves,” while adding, “the whole release sets a very contemporary look on modern electronic music.”

Unknown Precept will release Extremities by Profligate in May.
