Bok Bok and Sweyn Jupiter team up for Papaya Lipgloss
The much requested track from the Night Slugs co-founder will be released next month.
Anticipation from the Night Slugs camp this year has largely centred on Jam City with a captive audience waiting to discover how Jack Latham’s intriguing second album will sound, but news arrives from the label that will please avid Bok Bok fans. The delightfully titled “Papaya Lipgloss” from Alex Sushon and the equally wonderfully named Sweyn Jupiter first surfaced in ‘Club Mix’ form as the closing track on the Night Slugs co-founder’s RA podcast back in late 2013 and has grown into one of the most requested Bok Bok dubplates.
Thankfully the track will be given a full 12″ release by Night Slugs next month with Bok Bok and composer and keyboardist Jupiter also providing an alternate and previously unheard Sour Mix. Due to arrive with a quite brilliant full colour sleeve, Papaya Lipgloss is described as a “song about young love, presented in two distinct but equally weighty versions,” with the LinnDrum heavy funk of the Club version augmented by a crunchier “halftime drum kit of dumpster-drive 808s” on the Sour take. Those unfamiliar with the Club Mix can stream it full, untainted glory below.
Night Slugs will release Papaya Lipgloss by Bok Bok and Sweyn Jupiter on March 17.
