Happy Skull returns with Creta Kano

The Bristol label will issue some new material from the somewhat mysterious UK producer next month – preview it here. 

Overseen by brotherly Bristolian selectors The Kelly Twins, Happy Skull has lived up to its promise as a label promoting “raw machine music with colour, melody, and soul” across its five records issued so far. Launching with the one-off Systems of Desire project from Kowton and Hyetal, Happy Skull has taken in Adjowa’s “lunatic fringe of boogie and very early techno”, the decadent dancefloor decay of Rhythmic Theory, Marco Bernardi’s cultivated box jams, and most recently Nabihah Iqbal’s Throwing Shade project.

The feeling that Dan and Sean Kelly trust their ears as opposed to social network statistics continues with the news their next release comes from Creta Kano, an artist with one prior release to their name for the Pinkman label. Issued back towards the end of 2013, Shinjuku may have caught the headlines for the inclusion of one of Danny Wolfers’ finest Legowelt remixes of recent memory but Kano’s two original productions were filled with melodies that were just as wide-eyed and full of wonder. This makes the supposed UK artist a perfect fit for Happy Skull and the upcoming three-track 12″, titled simply HAPSKL006, can be previewed below.

Happy Skull will release HAPSKL006 by Creta Kano in late February.
