Listen: Moodymann’s free EP for Scion AV

Detroit deity Kenny Dixon Jnr has released a free eight track EP through Scion AV.

The producer’s highly unlikely move into the world of (free) digital releases follows a recent EP from FXHE boss Omar S, suggesting the people at Scion – a US-based division of car manufacturing giant Toyota – have some decent musical hook-ups in Detroit.

The Picture This EP serves as an appetite-whetting exercise ahead of Moodymann’s forthcoming studio album – more on that here – with opening track “9 Nites 2 Nowhere” featuring a burning, late night house bump grinding alongside smokey, jazz-fuelled trumpet bursts. Other highlights include the soulful bump of “U Ranaway”, flute-driven “Hold It Down” and both versions of party rocking jam “Got 2 Make It”.
