Juno Daily – In The Mix & 12″ track-by-track: Dsum
Southern hemispherical electro genius

Colombian DJ and producer Dsum’s music explores the boundaries between oscillating experimental ambient and Detroit-style electro. Even better, his new album Water In The Moon comes on two 12” singles – ‘Gravity Loss’ and ‘Double Distance’, with a bonus track on each – in your face, other formats!
Here, he celebrates its release with a neat session for Juno Dail’s In The Mix series, followed by a track-by-track explanantion of the album’s contents…

New Sun
This first track marks a fresh chapter in my life and a new start for me as a producer. ‘New Sun’ captures the essence of the ambient music I’ve loved over the years, taking me into a world of cinematic sounds I never expected to explore when I began this album. Having calm music like this was perfect for the peaceful moments at home with the arrival of a new family member.
Landing On Earth
Think about what it would be like to explore Earth after 20 years in space—that’s the vibe I aimed for with this track. I love creating atmospheric pads and rhythms that capture the feeling of a traveler landing back home. Plus, it’s got that classic Kraftwerk sound that’s inspired me for ages.
Running Around
Making this track shows how much I love making music. It’s got a fun rhythm and a bunch of harmonically paired synths working together. It’s also the result of studying music scales and how they can create the perfect vibe, which is what makes it a true reflection of my DJ style.
Artefactos
Since this album is all about an outer space future, Artefactos feels like a storm of celestial debris—a crescendo that keeps on going. The track builds up rhythmically and harmonically, progressively taking you into non-stop chaos, with breaks that came from a jam session on my Boss DR.202. There’s also an unreleased beatless version of this track on my recording files.
Double Distance
One of the crowd favorites, this track blends my Roland Juno plugin with the ‘Water In The Moon’ concept, driving the whole song with an awesome sequence. It really showcases my DJ sound and ties the album together as a multi-genre project with a consistent concept and sound.
Empty Place
This track is pure magic! I whipped it up in just a couple of hours during a jam session with my modular synth, exploring a new patch and aiming to create something beatless that brought me calm. The result turned out beautiful—it’s a burst of quick inspiration loaded with lots of emotions. Protons: Adding another kick to the album, Protons captures that classic Detroit electro vibe. With high-speed breaks bouncing over a controlled acid bass line from my first analog synth ever, the Dave Smith Mopho, it’s a banging track perfect for a modern electro dj set.
Silent Spreaders
Named like this as the way the track is built, another from my modular synth rig with lots of variations; one of those patches you could jam forever.
Space Games
I can’t think of space without bringing my mind to Atari’s Space Invaders game, and that’s exactly what brings this track alive: an acid bass line that drives straight to the electro territory.
Nebula
I’m unsure how to describe this one, but it feels like a fun traveler nebula with lots of movement. I enjoyed recording this one; meeting percussion in an electro track is not typical, but it makes this track way more fun and groovy; also, the melody can get stuck in your head.
Hemisferio Sur
The inspiration behind this track came from 90’s freestyle music; during that period, music influence from Miami was huge in the city where I was growing up. To record an electro-based album, getting a track that can represent that sound is a must; when I was a kid, I loved to feel the bass of that 808 on breaks with those robotic-treated vocals! With Hemisferio Sur, I was trying to reproduce that feeling without going far away from the whole album’s concept.
Gravity Loss
Last but not least, this is a sci-fi-inspired one; after receiving all the feedback from friends, I’ll tell you this is the most loved track; a slow progressive build song showcasing a little bit of my dark side.
