Premiere: Ohm & Octal Industries’ minimal creeper ‘Erebus’
First listen of the pair’s sleek, minimal latest
Ohm and Octal Industries are regular collaborators, as well as esteemed producers in their own right, and after the considerable amount of essential vinyl they’ve dropped on 12″ together, an album was sure to follow.
Step in, then, the nice people from Lempuyang and all hail Northwest Passage, their first album-length collaboration, a double 12″ containing eight tracks which burn slowly but surely, enveloping you in their echoey, dubby sensations like a ship slowly slipping down into the icy depths. All very apt, considering the album’s themes touch on failed Arctic explorations and mythological creatures from the deep darknesss of the seas.
The album’s not out for more than a month, but we’ve secured – with their kind permission – the premiere of ‘Erebus’, named after ‘the god of a dark region of the underworld and the personification of darkness’. You have been warned!
