Exclusive – first view of Kinlaw’s nightmarish ‘Ridgeway’ film

Track sees the Britstolians joined by vocalist Dali de Saint Paul (pictured)

Weld was assembled with 30 dubs, chats at the pub and a few emails,” claims the press release for Kinlaw’s new album. It’s a huge understatement – the album is a major piece of work, a 17 track affair that sees the Bristol industrial experimentalists collaborating with vocalists from Togo to Uganda and Palestine including Operation Egodeath, Robin Stewart (of Giant Swan infame), Dali de Saint Paul, Kelan, D Ham and underground friends from their home city like Birthmark and Danny Nedelko of Heavy Lungs/IDLES fame.

“Steeped in the mystery and folklore of a small town in Dorset, England. Weld is the defining statement of the Kinlaw universe,” they add mysteriously.

They’ve kindly given us the chance to air the rather terrifying video for ‘Ridgeway’ featuring Dali de Saint Paul for the very first time on Juno Daily.

‘Ridgeway’ was shot and edited by Laura Philips and Kinlaw. Cine footage of infamous underground Avon vocalist Dali de Saint Paul is layered with “Historical sites” around Bristol City, such as the J3 Stone, and the new Roman ruins behind the Pie-Poudre Court in Old Market.

Laura Philips and Kinlaw were both members of The Bristol Diving School from 2010-2011. They have since worked on performances together, including an experimental set of improv analogue visuals and sound at The Brunswick Club in support of Rashad Becker in 2017.”

‘Weld’ is set for release on the esteemed Drowned By Locals label – check their page for news of new releases, including the forthcoming BUNYI BUNYI TUMBAL LP from Kasimyn.
