New from ALM Busy Circuits, the ALM-033 Mega-Tang is a quad linear VCA mashed together with a stereo mixer. It’s a simple but cleverly judged approach, with effects sends (mono send, stereo return), pan controls, manual/CV level control, individual outputs plus stereo mix out. The Mega-Tang is based on the clean, clear, low-distortion circuits of the popular ALM-009 Tangle Quartet.
At 16 HP, the Mega-Tang is twice the width of the Tangle Quartet, but that does seem to be the only downside. Essentially, you’re paying around £70 more for a huge amount of extra functionality, not least the performance versatility of hands-on send/pan/level controls and mutes on all four channels.
