Scritti Politti to revisit punk roots at co-headline shows with The Mekons

Shows celebrate release of book about Leeds Uni’ fertile punk scene

Scritti Politti have announced two dates in October which will see them revisiting their punk roots.

The shows are co-headlines with The Mekons and are designed to celebrate the publication of Gavin Butt’s ‘No Machos Or Pop Stars’ book, about the bands emerging from Leeds art colleges in the punk and post punk era.

“Material from that era will be performed,” warns the official email from Green Garside’s band, referring to the jagged guitar-led material they released through Rough Trade before achieving pop success in 1985 with material from their debut album Cupid & Psyche
