Jessy Lanza announces DJ-Kicks compilation with exclusive new tracks, plus autumn tour

Lanza takes the road with Caribou as well as headliner dates

Jessy Lanza has unveiled details of her new DJ-Kicks mix – which includes several unreleased collaborations – out this coming November 19.

One of the named tracks, ‘Seven 55’ featuring Loraine James, has seen a new music video premiere today, directed by Winston H. Case.

The Hyperdub synthpop mainstay said of ‘Seven 55’: “I wrote (the song) about a close friend and his inability to commit. I fantasized about the women caught in his web and wrote ‘Seven 55’ from their point of view. I think it’s important to face a nightmare head on so what better place than Las Vegas to shoot the video for a song about longing and denial. In the video, Winston captures people in liminal spaces in limbo between destinations during their weekend in Vegas.”

Lanza’s new DJ-Kicks compilation spans electro, synthpop and avant-garde electronica, creating a mix of universally enjoyable music, which  she describes as “ones that people respond to everywhere regardless of where in the world I’m DJing.”

The mix comes after recent remixes for Marie Davidson and Kate NV, as well as her third LP from 2020, the acclaimed All The Time, as well as its companion piece, ‘24/7’, featuring remixes by Foodman, Martyn Bootyspoon, and DJ Swisha.

“I made this mix in pursuit of the bleary 4am feeling. The moment when you hear sweet soul – burner vocals with drum patterns that won’t let you go home. I made the mix with this constant thought in my mind. – there always has to be melody – whether it’s vocal or rhythmic there has to be something catchy, something joyful and ultimately something that will connect with the listener.”

Additionally to the announcement, Lanza has shared details of her upcoming Autumn tour, with a mixture of headline dates and supporting dates for Caribou and others.

Jessy Lanza’s DJ-Kicks mix will be released on November 19. Pre-order the mix here:
