Second release on The Orb’s Orbscure label announced as remix album vinyl hits shelves
The Orb’s Alex Paterson collabs with Fil Le Gonidec on Enter The Kettle
Alex Paterson, one half of pioneering electronic duo The Orb, has announced the second LP on his new label Orbscure, ‘Enter The Kettle’.
The album is a collaborative project with Fil Le Gonidec, with whom Paterson makes music under the name OSS. Originally standing for Orb Sound System, OSS began as a half-DJ, half-live version of The Orb, which had the intention of being able to gig more nimbly and frequently than the main machine.
Alex met Fil whilse roadie-ing for the Killing Joke. Fil later lived for a period in Chicago above H-Gun Labs: the videographers whose credits later included the Orb’s ‘Toxygene’ video, which starred Chris Connelly from Murder Inc., whom Fil roadied for. Catching wind of Fil’s musical talents, The Orb then flew him to the UK to become their merch seller.
The duo have shared ‘Whippersnapper’ from the LP, showcasing a heavier, more industrial-slanted ambient house sound than traditional Orb productions.
‘Enter The Kettle’ will be released on vinyl, CD, download and streaming on September 24 via Orbscure. Meanwhile, the vinyl version of Abolition Of The Royal Familia (Guillotine Mixes), featuring reworkings of tracks from last year’s Abolition Of The Royal Familia album by David Harrow, Youth, Moody Boys and others, is released this week.
