Nubya Garcia stars in new making-of docu series ‘My Process’, plus mix competition for undiscovered talent
Nubya Garcia, multi-award-wining saxophonist and composer, is the subject of the first episode of AIAIAI’s YouTube series ‘My Process’, exploring the making of 2020’s critically acclaimed debut album SOURCE
‘My Process with… Nubya Garcia’ was recorded in late autumn in Little Red Studios in London, and features the artist providing exclusive insight into the thoughts and process behind her album.
In collaboration with audio company AIAIAI, London DJ and BBC Radio 1 presenter Benji B has co-curated a new short film series detailing the creative processes of some of the UK’s most prominent artists. The ‘My Process’ series aims to provide insight into the personal creative approaches of individual musicians, rather than acting as a tutorial series. In light of the uptick in creative pursuits among the general population as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Benji B commented:
“The idea of the series was to create a resource for music creatives – an encyclopaedia of ideas presented by musicians, producers, composers, DJs, MCs, and instrumentalists, sharing techniques that they use in their process of making music. Its intended to be less of a “how to” and more of a “how I…” – presenting the opportunity to observe how different people approach music making. Due to the pandemic many people have more time and a desire to explore their creativity, and sometimes learning how a diverse range of respected artists approach their process can help inform how we find our own. Hopefully ‘My Process’ can be one of the resources that helps do that.”
On top of this, AIAIAI and Benji B have announced the ‘2021 Mix Contest’, providing the opportunity for the public to submit their own 60-minute DJ mix for the chance to win various prizes including an $1000 fee, a copy of Ableton Live 10 Suite, and a Traktor Kontrol S2 DJ Controller.
The ‘Curated By’ mix series was only limited to established artists last year, but has since been opened to the public, with an aim for finding undiscovered talent. For more details on entry, click here
