Best of 2020: Eurorack
2020 was a difficult year, but it also blessed us with some outstanding new studio equipment releases. As we prepare for 2021, we take a look back at some of the best releases of the last 12 months, picking out our favourites.
Winner: ALM Busy Circuits System Coupe
It seems a bit unfair to rank individual Eurorack modules against each other. Can we really say that a particular filter is better than an oscillator? Not really. Instead, we’ve opted for our favourite new system of this year, the ALM Busy Circuits System Coupe. It’s a distillation of the brand’s ethos in a ready-made setup, based heavily around popular existing modules like the Pamela’s New Workout, Quaid Megaslope and Squid Salmple, but with a few exclusive new additions, including the MCF multi-mode analogue filter. It’s a brilliantly creative box that works as a cohesive instrument.

An honourable mention also to the Erica Synths Fusion System II, an updated take on an old favourite.
