Hospital Productions imparts Appropriation Stories
Dominick Fernow’s label will release Shifted’s third solo LP.
Scroll down the discography of what Hospital Productions has released this year and it’s quite astonishing. Of the more recognisable names you’ll find the Para Araras 12″ from Ninos Du Brasil, an EP by Lee Bannon’s fledging Dedekind Cut project and another by JK Flesh, to Prurient and Vatican Shadow albums in addition to cassettes by Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement and Lussuria. The label now welcomes aboard Guy Brewer’s Shifted concern by giving his third solo album, Appropriation Stories, a trusted outlet to be received. Hospital Productions have described the LP as “a dense wall of sound underpinned by an incessant pulse,” with further suggestion of throw backs to a sound heard in Brewer’s previous work as drum and bass duo Commix.
With Shifted’s album Under A Single Banner finding a release on Hospital Productions off-shoot Bed Of Nails in 2013, Appropriation Stories isn’t the first time Brewer’s music has been marked up by Dominick Fernow. It provides Shifted with a first record in some two years following the two Arrangements In Monochrome 12″s Avian put out in 2014, and Hospital Productions further explain that “rigorous processing and studio treatments” of break beats on the LP add “new layers of character to his highly-developed techno sound.”
Hospital Productions will release Appropriation Stories by Shifted on October 18.
