Meakusma are organising a festival

The Belgian label will hold a jam-packed three-day event in Eupen in September.

Back in December we reported on a unique event that trusted Belgian label Meakusma had organised in the Alter Schlachthof, a former abbatoir in the small town of Eupen in East Belgium. That one-night event had featured an ambitious cast ranging from the techno trysts of Levon Vincent and Zenker Brothers to the esoteric delights of Rodelius & Schneider and Irmler & Liebezeit. Indeed events have been a staple part of the Meakusma story since the beginning, as we discovered when profiling the label back in 2014. Often working with support from the Goethe Institut, Michael and Christoph who run the label have long been bringing ambitious and experimental line-ups to diverse locations around Belgium, but their hometown of Eupen is a regular destination.

Now, these years of event organising are culminating in the first Meakusma Festival, set to run from September 23-25. Once again the setting for the event will be the Alter Schlachthof in Eupen, where five stages will be spread across the expansive, recently converted building. The line-up is already available to witness, and it’s quite simply jaw-dropping. A brief skim through some highlights includes King Midas Sound’s Roger Robinson collaborating with Disrupt, Mike Cooper, the Toresch project from Toulouse Low Trax, Mark Ernestus & Mark Ainley, DJ Nigga Fox and so very much more. With regards to their intentions for the event, the organisers have stated, “entrance prices have been kept deliberately moderate and the general comfort of the audience is a prime concern with short distances between the various stages and an often intimate set-up.” A variety of ticket options are available, from an early bird €45 for the three days through to accommodation included packages, all available for your perusal and purchase here.
