Conor Thomas and Alessandro Adriani next on Krokodilo Tapes

The Blackest Ever Black tape label have turned to the heads of The Death Of Rave and Mannequin for their latest cassette mixes.

By now, fans of Blackest Ever Black have grown to expect a certain standard of selector when it comes to the label’s Krokodilo Tapes series. Hamburg’s Helena Hauff was the first to show off her DJing skills in the series with the Obscure Object tape and further Krokodilo sessions have come from Golden Pudel resident Nina, Going Good’s Brian Not Brian and Idle Hands founder Chris Farrell. Mr. Blackest Ever Black himself has contributed a couple of Krokodilo mixes too, though neither contain the all-out electroclash megamix we all know is in him. We can now add to this storied list Conor Thomas and Alessandro Adriani, two individuals whose work has been covered extensively on this website previously

Newly unveiled for pre-order with a proposed release date of next month, We Drift In And Out is an hour long mix from Mannequin boss Adriani that sees an A-side of “bargain-bin hard techno and trance detritus from the early ‘90s,” played at the wrong RPM complemented by a selection of ambient works by a “certain contemporaneous Roman producer who’s better known for hitting it hard.” Due out at the same time, the deliciously-titled At The Expense Of Others from The Death of Rave and Boomkat man Conor Thomas is a 90 minute selection that arrives with the following coded description and nothing else:

“Mixed messages bottling a decade of decayed memories from an overlooked tract. A deep topographical reading encompassing industrial folk song and field recordings from 55°40′09″N 1°47′05″W and 54.9704° N, 1.3644° W. Research reveals rhizomatic roots and alliterative allusions to fleeting feels and vales of nostalgic moraine: c/left of doggerland, adrift as Detroit; penned in and spent out.”

Krokodilo Tapes will release We Drift In And Out by Alessandro Adriani and At The Expense Of Others by Conor Thomas in early May.
