Orphx, Archie Pelago and more remix Ricardo Donoso

German label Denovali will release the Saravá Exu Remixes 12″ next month – hear the Orphx take here.

Brazilian musician Ricardo Donoso has struck up a productive relationship with Denovali, issuing two albums on the German label in the past two years along with the Beginning Of The Shape EP. Now some of his early works are also gaining a new airing thanks to this working relationship, as the Progress Chance, Assimilating The Shadow and As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Verse Sharpens The Other albums are compiled together on Symmetry. Due out as a four-vinyl or three-CD box set later this month, the music originally appeared on Digitalis, but will no doubt offer a new set of listeners the chance to catch up with Donoso’s unique soundworld.

In addition to that voluminous release, Denovali have also revisited Donoso’s Saravá Exu LP from January 2015 and pieced together an all-star remix package scheduled to drop on the first anniversary of the album’s release. Amongst the cast of characters invited to deliver new versions are Spaces (the Bleep and Bjork-affiliated electronica producer), Thomas Köner (a veteran of Mille Plateaux and Touch amongst others) and Archie Pelago (of Mister Saturday Night fame). However the most intriguing inclusion to us is that of Orphx, the long-running experimental techno pairing of Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey.

It’s been a while since there was new original material from the pair, although they have been productive with remixes for Michal Wolski, Uncto and Solvent amongst others in the past 12 months. Oddie has also been engaged on developing the Ontario Hospital project with Teste man David Foster. We’re happy to present an upfront stream of their reworking of “Versperum” ahead of the full EP release at the end of January.

Denovali will release Saravá Exu Remixes by Ricardo Donoso on January 22.
