ZCKR Records document the Grey City
Music from the Bremen area features on a new compilation celebrating the local label’s fifth anniversary.
Overseen by Bremen pairing Sebastian Reuschel & Adel Akram, ZCKR Records was founded in 2010 and has developed into a DIY concern with a concentrated focus on the local area. Adopting a cross-format approach, ZCKR have issued a series of EPs, cassettes and CDrs from its founders as well as a multiplicity of musicians and artists bubbling away in the Hanseatic city. Anom Vitruv and recent Lobster Theremin act Qnete are perhaps the most recognisable names to have worked with ZCKR to date.
To celebrate reaching their fifth year of operation, ZCKR have pulled together an intriguing array of unfamiliar names for a compilation that is due to arrive imminently. Given their focus to date, it is no surprise the 11-track Grey City focuses on the Bremen area, featuring both current and archival recordings. In their own words, ZCKR describes the compilation as a “journey through warehouses, rehearsal rooms, workshops and studios of people who create the art we appreciate and who let us look to the future with a great sense of enthusiasm.” Clips of the release can be heard below and expect the record to appear in shops over the coming week.
ZCKR Records will release Grey City by Various Artists later this month.
