Mark Verbos enters The Bunker New York

The label looks to another local techno figure with Walk The Distance due next month.

Last month’s History Of Discipline 12″ from Lot.te looks to be the onset of another programme of regular releases from The Bunker New York, with a new Romans record from Gunnar Haslam and Tin Man set to arrive imminently. Next in line for Bryan Kasenic’s tireless label is a debut for another local New York figure in Mark Verbos, founder of the vintage modular synth company Verbos Electronics and a man whose contribution to tough no-nonsense machine music in the grand old Midwestern tradition dates back to the mid-1990s. Born in Milwaukee, Verbos has spent time in Chicago and Berlin before settling in the Big Apple and he arrives on The Bunker New York with quite the hefty discography.

Next month will see the label issue Walk The Distance, a four-track 12″ of no-punches-pulled techno from Verbos that was understandably crafted using his own hardware. “Techno is machine music. When I’m recording, it’s just me and the machines,” Verbos states on a press release. The preview below fully justify The Bunker New York’s billing of this record as “heavyweight dancefloor artillery, informed by an intimate, inside-out knowledge of the machinery used in the production.”

The Bunker New York will release Walk The Distance by Mark Verbos on July 6.
