New Samuel Kerridge album inaugurates Contort Records
Always Offended Never Ashamed will arrive in February as the first release on the new Berlin label.
Overseen by Hayley and Samuel Kerridge, the freshly announced Contort Records looks to be a logical extension of the Berlin event series the pair have run for the past two years. An open-minded approach has characterised Contort events, with respected DJs and producers such as Milton Bradley, Regis and Bill Kouligas invited and encouraged to play records you wouldn’t hear in a normal club environment. This notion will transfer to the Contort label, with a press release stating an aim to “provide a platform for new talent, supporting artists to stand alone and be individual”.
Despite this focus on new talent, Samuel Kerridge will inaugurate proceedings on Contort in February with a new album entitled Always Offended Never Ashamed. Some seven tracks long, Always Offended Never Ashamed is described as Kerridge’s most personal recording to date, with his own vocals playing a more prominent role. News of Kerridge’s second album arrives just over a year after Downwards issued his debut LP, A Fallen Empire, and it represents his first release of note since adding James Ruskin’s Blueprint to his discography with Deficit Of Wonder back in August.
Contort Records will launch with Always Offended Never Ashamed by Kerridge on February 13.
