Announced earlier this month to considerable excitement, Flatland will be Berlin-based Objekt’s debut album after several years of killer 12″ releases, described by PAN as making “full use of the larger canvas to explore a framework of competing truths, multiple perspectives and conflicting accounts.” If this statement is as oblique to you as it is to us, then a stream of album track “Second Witness” might help to clear things up a little. Showing a different side than bracing numbers like “Cactus” and “Balloons”, the curious mix of shambling cybernetic rhythms and sci-fi ambience throughout “Second Witness” suggest Flatland, due to be released on October 20, will be full of unexpected surprises.
