The Bunker New York looks to Zemi17 for its next release

the-bunker-impressions

The forthcoming Impressions will come from the alias of New York artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner.

The label arm of famed New York techno night The Bunker has consistently made good on its promise to reflect the party’s tight-knit community spirit since opening for business at the beginning of the year. Commencing with an EP from modular enthusiast Leisure Muffin, subsequent releases have seen Marco Shuttle, Ulysses, Voices From The Lake, Clay Wilson and Løt.te help to shape a discography comprised of some considerably deeper and more psychedelic takes on the genre than the average techno label.

The imprint’s next record looks to continue that, with a two-track 12″ from Aaron Taylor Kuffner, a New York artist famed for creating the Gamelatron project in 2008, which was the world’s first fully robotic gamelan orchestra. Prior to that, Kuffner was a part of the city’s underground party scene, and his Zemi17 moniker – under which name he is primarily known for creating multi-point sound environments – dates back to 1997.

Kuffner’s last performance as Zemi17 took place at the 2012 edition of Unsound New York, and the material on the forthcoming Impressions 12″ comes from that performance. Featuring “two long and seductive tracks made entirely of sounds of insects, birds, motors and urban noises spliced together with treated samples of gongs and metallophones to create lush techno compositions,” the hypnotic Dozzy-esque tracks can be previewed below ahead of their release next month.

The Bunker New York will release Impressions on 12″ vinyl on September 1.
