Metasplice return to Morphine Records
The Philadelphia duo will release the Vertia/Tiled Eighths 12″ on Rabih Beaini’s label next week.
Comprised of well established Philadelphia pair Kenneth_Lay and V. Hold, Metasplice came to wider attention in 2012 with the release of the Topographical Interference EP on Rabih Beaini’s Morphine label, a relationship which has continued with a further single and the Infratracts album released last year. Part of a loose group of producers in the city weaving noise and techno into genuinely alien musical forms, the duo’s collective output has also spanned various solo and collaborative projects for labels like The Trilogy Tapes, Further Records and local Philadelphia label Great Circles.
True to the label’s reputation as one that prefers to eschew the press machine in favour of simply putting out records when they’re ready, information has snuck out regarding the duo’s next record for Morphine, which will be released next week. Taking the form of a single entitled Vertia/Tiled Eighths, the record supposedly “delves into the paranoid / submarine dwelling / meta-hacker / soundtrack territory they are often known to enter when performing live”. Interested parties can hear previews at the Rush Hour website.
Morphine Records will release Vertia/Tiled Eights on June 30.
