Listen to the “Womb Dream” of Fis

Hear a track from the producer’s forthcoming Iterations EP on Tri Angle.

Although New Zealander Fis has been associated with labels like Exit and Samurai Horo since 2011, it was last year’s Preparations EP for Tri Angle which really brought his creaky, highly experimental brand of D&B to wider attention. Entering blasted sonic territory that had much in common with labelmates Vessel and Sd Laika, Preparations was a uniquely disorientating listen that made perfect sense on the label. We’ve known about some new Fis material forthcoming on Tri Angle for a while now and it will finally see release next week in the shape of the Iterations EP. On the basis of “Womb”, which can be streamed in full below, the new four-track EP promises to be just as queasy a trip into the producer’s sonic vortex as Preparations, with the track capturing a dramatic combination of drilling percussion and mournful foghorn-like synths.
