Sunil Sharpe and DeFeKt are Tinfoil

Preview the first release from the Irish duo’s new project.

In reviewing Transmuter, DeFeKT’s end of year 2013 bow on Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations label, Richard Brophy suggested Matt Flanagan’s star under the guise was in the ascendance, and news of a collaboration with Dublin techno veteran and Earwiggle boss Sunil Sharpe can only help him rise further.

Taking the mantle of Tinfoil, the duo’s first release arrives next month on a new label of the same name and can be previewed below. Despite the lack of conspiracy theory-themed track titles, the Tinfoil project does present an interesting intersection of Flanagan and Sharpe’s respective styles with the chaotic “Foil 6” a particularly jagged combination of electro bleeps and jaw-grinding basslines. The Tinfoil concept extends to the artwork too with each copy featuring a circular tinfoil sticker on the sleeve, embossed with the T logo.
