Perc’s album gets all star British remix treatment
Untold, Tessela and Clouds all feature on forthcoming remix 12″.
The only way you couldn’t be aware of Perc at the moment is if you didn’t have the internet, even still, it’s likely you would have read about or heard Ali Wells’ new album anyway. The Power and The Glory was released earlier this year to rapturous applause and was described by Juno Plus deputy editor Scott Wilson as “an album created with an underlying sense of simmering unease, somehow exorcised through techno,”. The Perc name is now synonymous with UK techno as much as the likes of Regis, Surgeon or Luke Slater, and he’s invited three fellow Brits to remix his album, with Tessela, Untold and Glaswegian pairing Clouds, who DJed at the London launch of the album, all essentially making their Perc Trax debut.
Each producer has taken on a different track to remix with the young and enthusiastic Clouds unsurprisingly tackling “Dumpster”, one of the The Power and The Glory‘s clear-cut dancefloor productions. Tessela also looks to Perc’s clubbier designs in his remix of “Take Your Body Off”, while Untold, who’s still basking in the release of his equally unforgiving debut album, Black Light Spiral, remixes “Bleeding Colours” for a production that’s very much in tune with his current experimentations in industrial music.
Perc Trax will release The Power and The Glory Remixed on April 11.
