Listen: Niama Makalou et African Soul Band – Kognokoura (Daphni’s Part 2 Edit)

Dan Snaith has returned to his Daphni alias to remix some Malian disco for the Sofrito crew.

Although the London-based Canadian is of course best known for his work as Caribou, his recent work as Daphni has  impressed, with tracks on his own labels (Resista and Jiaolong), Allez Allez’s Amazing Sounds and remix commissions for Carl Craig’s Planet E and Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels.

You can stream his flute-riddled remix of Niama Makalou et African Soul Band’s “Kognokourain” in full via the Soundcloud player below. As with previous Daphni material, it fuses intricate percussive elements, African inspired rhythms, and club-ready elements effortlessly.

Sofrito will release Kognokoura by Niama Makalou later this month.
