Pinch mixes Fabriclive 61
The 61st Fabriclive mix will come from revered Bristol-based producer Rob Ellis, aka Pinch.
Quite rightly regarded as a key figure in maintaining Bristol’s ongoing reputation as a globally respected hub for dub-influenced music, Ellis’ Tectonic imprint has been a conduit for his own productions and a breeding ground for the likes of Joker, Illum Sphere and 2562. The announcement comes just days after the superb collaborative album with Shackleton (another recent Fabriclive curator) arrived via Honest Jon’s.
The 22-track mix, mixed predominantly with vinyl, begins and ends with different sections of the same Distal track (“Venom”), which Ellis says gives it a loopy, never-ending quality. He explains: “I made the whole mix start and finish in the same spot – meaning that the entire DJ mix can work as a loop if you put it on repeat. I really like the idea of certain kinds of music existing in its own infinite context and setting up the mix to loop like that was playing entirely into that idea.”
The hallowed Farringdon nightspot will host the Fabriclive 61 launch party on Friday, January 13. Pinch will hold court in room two, with the Hessle Audio crew taking over room one.
Fabric will release Fabriclive 61 by Pinch on January 16, 2012. Scroll down to peruse the artwork and tracklisting.
