Tiga calls up Detroit to round off remix project

Turbo impresario Tiga will round off his ambitious remix project for 2009 album Ciao! with a 12″ boasting two remixes from Detroit don Carl Craig.

In the past 12 months both artists have explored new ground, with Craig remixing acts as disparate as Zero 7, Hot Chip and Ramadanman & Appleblim, while Tiga has called on the likes of Martyn, Adam Beyer, Matias Aguayo, Efdemin, Mathew Jonson, Motor City Drum Ensemble and more to rework tracks from Ciao!

Unsurprisingly, Craig’s two remixes of “Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore” offer a suitably throbbing take on the original, with the second version a particularly dubby delight.

Here’s what Tiga had to say about the project: “For these remixes, I looked to Titans. Standing on the roof of my greenhouse, I called out, ‘Hey you, get off of that impossible cloud and into my car. We’re gonna drive all night ‘til we hit Remix City!

“It goes without saying that having Carl Craig remix my song is an honor. And this song is particularly special to me because it was written in such a traditional way. It was just me, Gonzales, a piano, a bottle of wine, a bottle of shampoo, and a handful of conditioner. It’s the kind of song you listen to alone in the Sheraton Business Center, wistfully savoring a Skor bar and reflecting on what might have been.”

The remix package will be released on vinyl on November 29 and digital on November 30.

Vinyl tracklisting:

A—Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore (C2 Remix 1)
B—Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore (C2 Remix 2)

Digital bonus track:

D1—Love Don’t Dance Here Anymore (Instrumental)
