Listen: M.I.A’s new album in full

The ever controversial singer M.I.A has been kind enough to stream the entirety of her new album /\/\ /\ Y /\ on her MySpace page.

The British born rapper of Sri Lankan descent made headlines recently when she responded to an unflatttering article in the New York Times by posting the phone number of NYT scribe Lynn Hirschberg on Twitter along with a piece of her mind.

Before that it was the video for her single “Born Free” which garnered headlines, with a particularly galling video (for redheads at least) removed from YouTube. Before that it was…well, you get the idea. All things aside, the album sounds superb on first listen.

The album will be released in the UK through XL Recordings on July 12.
