1. Joy Orbison – The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow (Aus)
“Him and Floating Points have really touched a nerve with me. Their production values are super sweet and theres so much funk, soul and swing in there to keep your feet moving for a long time.”
2. Floating Points – Peoples Potential
“‘Vacuum Boogie” was on regular rotation, as was “Love Me Like This” – and now this one – I think I’m getting the biggest dancefloor reaction out of all of them with this track – love the pianos!”
3. Kotey Extra Band / Bottin – Hot Ring
“I love Bottin’s music. ”No Static” is a great modern day classic dance track – and this dub he’s turned out is a stumbling beat and a massive analogue bassline – proper deep disco – nice one Bear Funk!
4. Erdbeerschnitzel – 4 Months
“This is a great EP from someone who I’ve definitely never heard of before – but I won’t forget him with a name like that… plus the product is pretty frickin good – the Arto Mwambe remix however sent Oslo into a state of dissarray last Saturday I had to put an Arto Mwambe / Brontosaurus production here – they’re putting so much great stuff out – and what a debut from a brand new label!
5. Basic Soul Unit – The Stand
“Another house producer whose really caught my ears – “The Stand” is massive for me – sounded so big at the Panorama Bar, coming on like early Carl Craig business – that’s where I’m at.”
6. Music From Mathematics Volume 4
“Love this label – Les Aeroplanes should be on this chart – an allround cracking EP, and the Kelton Prima track from this EP sounds like a modern day Skyy track – boogie badness.”
7. Falty DL – All in the Place
“This one got me all in a fluster and dug it out as soon as I could – what a great forward thinking record, something for everyone – really love the future boogie track on here… a name to look out for!
“Damn! ”Me and U” sounds so good – so funky, and such a full sounding production. This is next level, can’t wait to play this out of a big system.”
“Well, this is cominG out any day so thought I’d mention it! Miss Bee on vocals on the Try – , Andy Yam doing some keywork on Highway 24, and me on the 303 on Highway 1… enjoy!”
10. Burnt Island Casuals – Scotch Hop
“Further digging proved fruitful! This is coming from The Revenge I reckon – taken on a classic track here in style, added a certain deepness to it, plus quite a kick. I know this will do big things.”
