Ether 2010 acts revealed

Lou Reed, Gil Scott Heron, Speech Debelle and Chrome Hoof will peform at Ether, the Southbank Centre’s annual music festival of innovation, art and technology.

The festival, which runs from April 16-25, has snagged a host of legendary acts, kicking off with Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Trio, who will play the Royal Festival Hall on April 19, in a performance based on Reed’s radical and controversial 1975 album Metal Machine Music.

The following evening Gil Scott-Heron will be showcasing material from his acclaimed new album – his first in 15 years – I’m New Here, with support from 2009 Mercury Prize Winner, Speech Debelle.

HEALTH and Chrome Hoof team up on April 22 in what promises to be a fascinating audio visual feast.

On 23 April, acclaimed filmmaker and audio/video maestro, Chris Cunningham brings his pioneering live show of original and remixed music and film to Ether – following ecstatic receptions at last year’s Big Chill and Tokyo’s Electraglide vs Warp 20 festivals in 2009. Also appearing on the bill is BEAK > – the trio formed by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow.

Ether tickets will go on sale to Southbank Centre members on Thursday 28 January and on general sale on Friday 29 January.
