Meakusma seek out Georgia for further Comments

The multidisciplinarian pair gets remixed by Afrikan Sciences, Thomas Bullock, RVNG Intl. and more.

Brian Close and Justin Tripp made quite a bold entrance with last year’s Like Comment LP for the Meakusma label. While they had previously self-released the Asemic Club album on their own Georgia Sounds two years prior, the move to Meakusma felt like a more purposeful emergence for a duo with a very unique slant on experimental electronics. As Michael from the Belgian label explained to us in an interview last year, “it felt so good with the Georgia release, because for us it’s not possible to pin it down to a genre.”

This year has already seen Meakusma add the talents of Leipzig’s Mix Mup to their roster, with his Beach Hotel De Haan due next month, and now Georgia’s wild and unpredictable sound is back in focus. The amusingly named Like Comment Comments is due this Summer and draws together an interesting cross section of music talent to rework tracks from Georgia’s album. Chief among them is a rare production outing for RVNG Intl boss Matt Werth, a strong advocate of Georgia’s music and art, whose ‘Gone Fishin’ take on “Abstract High” is complemented by further reinterpretations from Afrikan Sciences, Thomas Bullock (as Tom of Georgia) and Bryce Hackford. The record is also blessed by two “Bridge” compositions from Close and Tripp that close out each side of the 12″. Consider us very intrigued.

Meakusma will release Like Comment Comments by Georgia in late August/ early September.
