Premiere – Mark Broom and Dave Hill lend a remix hand to ‘Palm Palm’ by Connective Zone
2001 classic has been newly remastered

Bristol label-turned-blog Innate is launching a new sub-label, Innate Editions, dedicated to timeless UK techno, IDM, electro and ambient music. And what a corker they have lined up for its first release.
Connective Zone’s ‘Palm Palm’ EP is a millennium-era cult classic that first came out on Mark Broom and Dave Hill’s Unexplored Beats in 2001.
Owain Kimber from Innate told us: “I first came across Connective Zone’s music thanks to Mark Broom and Dave Hill at Pure Plastic, as they kindly gave me a leg up and distributed my first record label well over 20 years ago, after I sent them a demo.
“Lo and behold, I was handed both Connective Zone UXB 12″s as a gift for helping them write some press releases at the time. Ever since, the ‘Palm Palm’ EP has been a personal favourite: a timeless set of sparkling tracks which really have flown under the radar. Something which I never quite understood why.
“When I thought about getting the Innate Editions off the ground, I made it my mission to strike up a conversation with the duo (Graham and Simon) to see if they would be open to the idea of a re-release, and we started talking about it. Suffices to say, I was really chuffed when they agreed to letting me to make it happen. With Jamie Anderson working his magic on the remasters, I really think we’ve done the music justice…”
The four track EP contains three originals and a mix of the title track by Broom and Hill, and you can hear the newly remastered version of it right here, well ahead of its expected release next month.
