Premiere – Robot84’s synth-led groovefest ‘Let’s Do It (Dub)’
Robo-tops

As you’ll know if you’ve been a regular peruser of these pages, we’re big fans of Robot84 and his irresistble fusion of 80s sounds and modern dancefloor house here at Juno Daily.
So when we found out the London producer – real name Scott Ferguson – had the fifth instalment in his Promo series due for release in early March, we were on him like a shot to get a premiere of a track. It was, inevitably, an embarassment of riches to choose from, with the dreamy Balearic-style ‘Beats From The Far East’, the levitational headnodder ‘Ambient Love’ and lead track ‘Let’s Do It’, blessed with some implausibly deep vocals, all in the running. As EPs go, in fact, you’d be hard pushed to find a more varied one.
In the end we opted for the dub version of ‘Let’s Do It’. It does what we think he does best – combining old and new effortlessly. It runs on an old school sequencer throb and some supreme synth action, but it’s also got a strutting house beat that will keep you nailed to the dancefloor. Heaven.
“With ‘Let’s Do It (Dub),’ I wanted to offer a shift in energy while keeping the atmospheric vibe of the vocal version.” he told us. “It’s more stripped-back, perfect for moments in a set where you want another side of the track’s personality and the groove to take the lead.”
So come on – let’s do it!
