Label Focus – Sole Aspect
We know you got Sole

WHAT’S THE NAME OF YOUR LABEL, AND WHO RUNS IT?
Sole Aspect Records. Owner, operator and A&R is me, Amaré.
WHEN & WHY DID THE LABEL START?
The label was born on November 1, 2021, predominantly as a creative space for passion and expression. Sole Aspect is an independent Miami based vinyl-only label, driven, spirited, and focused on deep soul music. I strive to enhance a loving frequency which assists artists as a guide on their musical journey. I recognized a void in the market for deep music and felt compelled to hopefully be a source of inspiration for the culture.
GIVE US A BRIEF SUMMARY OF WHAT YOU’VE RELEASED SINCE THEN….
To date the label has been home to distinguished artists, who are all personal heroes to me and have been a source of influence and inspiration. Sole Aspect kick started with an EP from the iconic Dubbyman, further blossoming with releases from Trinidadian Deep, Age of Rage [Dubbyman & Dan Piu], Roberta; Vick Lavender, Melchior Sultana, Puma & Daniel Chavez. A total of five EPs since the inception.
WHAT QUALITIES ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN THE MUSIC YOU RELEASE?
Deep, soulful, and emotional qualities stay present throughout every release. There’s a distinct feeling I have identified within myself when selecting music, that has been the source for decision making. In a way, it is indescribable and highly interpersonal but has keep me very happy.
WHAT KIND OF VISUAL IDENTITY DOES THE LABEL HAVE (ARTWORK, VIDEOS ETC)?
I strive to let the music speak for itself, driving more of the conversation and connection, instead of a heavily emphasis on visuals at this current time. The identity of Sole Aspect is rooted in simplicity and significance.
WHAT’S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST SELLING RELEASE TO DATE? TELL US A BIT ABOUT IT AND WHY YOU THINK IT WAS SO POPULAR.
Release number five. titled Sole Discretion, featured cuts from Vick Lavender, Melchior Sultana, Puma & Daniel Chavez and sold out in a month! I purposely selected tracks that are built for the club and understanding where club culture is at the moment, attributed to the success of sales.
NAME ONE RELEASE THAT YOU THINK DESERVED TO GET MORE ATTENTION THAN IT DID
The third release produced by Dubbyman & Dan Piu under their moniker (Age of Rage) deserved more love. It is a deep house masterpiece in my opinion, combining the production strengths of both gentlemen. Sonically it cuts very deep, highly emotive, and noteworthy arrangement. Really proud of it.
IF YOU COULD SIGN ANY ARTIST, ALIVE OR DEAD, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
Mike Huckaby ! I had a chance to spend some time with him a few years ago and his charm gripped me instantly. Everything about Mike was DEEP; his humility, education and music taste. God rest his soul…he was such a beautiful person.
WHICH OTHER LABELS DO YOU ADMIRE AND WHY?
DEEP EXPLORER, DEEP ARTSOUNDS, NDATL, PEOPLE OF EARTH, NEROLI, SCISSOR & THREAD, SISTRUM RECORDINGS to name a few. The gentlemen running these labels all have the Midas touch. I am constantly inspired with everything they do.

WHAT CAN WE LOOK TO FROM YOUR LABEL NEXT?
Release number six is just out – a four track EP from Jenifa Mayanja titled ‘On The Edge Of The Horizon’. The project is rich with elegant harmonies and jazz melodies that dance on pulsing rhythms.
