Theo Suess captures “that holiday feeling” on East Coast Love Affair single ‘Tonight’

Suess adds a classic floaty falsetto to ECLA’s shimmering low key house workout

East Coast Love Affair’s Nick Moore (l) and guest vocalist Theo Suess (r)

Theo Suess has been talking to Juno Daily about his vocals on East Coast Love Affair’s new single ‘Tonight’, which was released on 7″ by Athens of the North this week.

The label’s ‘house band’, East Coast Love Affair, have quickly followed up their driving disco-funk outing ‘I’m So Glad’ with this “super late night mashy CR78 drum work out” with Theo’s floaty falsetto the cherry on top.

Suess told us: “On the first listen of the instrumental, I closed my eyes and imagined being in a Chiringuito… somewhere like Oaxaca, Cuba or Ibiza…there was just something really tropical and bouncy about that bass line and the beat…

You know just after sunset, as the dusk moves through all of its colours and you see the first stars appear. Alone with a cocktail but waiting for your special person to walk towards you down the beach and the anticipation of a perfect evening and what you have to do to make the evening perfect.

‘When you talk, I will listen,
When you walk, your body glistens in the pale moonlight
And everything feels right
Tonight.’

And then that holiday feeling where you know,  just for tonight if you can’t detract from the worlds worries, just for tonight you and your lover aren’t going to add to them. And you’re not there to talk about yourself, you’re there to listen, empathise and deepen your relationship together.

‘The world can be so unkind
So let’s discuss what’s on your mind,
And let’s be humankind tonight
Let’s be human…kind tonight.’”

Early DJ support comes from Erol Alkan, Francois K, Danny Tenaglia, Danielle Moore (Crazy P), Optimo, Matisa, Theo Kottis, Harri (Sub Club), Jordan Nocturne, Bill Brewster and Nathan Detroit.
