The synth is based around the principles on which wind instruments generate sound.
Best known for their extensive range of excellent Eurorack modules, Latvia’s Erica Synths also produce a range of standalone instruments, including the Perkons drum machine and the EMS-inspired Syntrx II analogue synth. The new Steampipe is an altogether different instrument, based around digital synthesis. Developed in “close collaboration” with Dutch company 112.dB, the Steampipe is a physical modelling synth, specifically focussing on the way sound is generated in wind instruments. Steam, Pipe and Reverberator sections allow you to adjust the physical characteristics of the sound. You can find out more above.
The Erica Synths Steampipe is expected later this year. You can sign up for email alerts here.
