The CM-15 is a tiny condenser mic designed for studio and field recording.
Newly announced by Teenage Engineering, the CM-15 is a large-diaphragm condenser mic housed in a compact format to match the excellent TX-6 mixer. It’s a slightly unusual design, in an ultra-thin housing which also includes a rechargeable battery to provide 48V phantom power and supply the onboard pre-amp and analogue-to-digital converter. Teenage Engineering describe their portable recording system as “the most powerful, highest quality, portable system in the world”. The sticking point, though? The CM-15 is set to retail at $1,199 (around £960 at the current exchange rate). Teenage Engineering tend to deliver when it comes to quality, but it doesn’t come cheap.
The Teenage Engineering CM-15 is expected to arrive this summer. You can view the full Teenage Engineering range here.
