Devo add Hammersmith and Green Man headlines to Farewell Tour schedule
Legendary new wavers also launch their own ‘premium potato vodka’
Devo, the legendary US new wave post-modernists, are to play Hammersmith Apollo as part of their final tour this summer.
The date, on August 19, is the only UK headline show in the schedule for their 50th anniversary farewell tour.
The new wavers have also, however, been confirmed as one of three headliners for the Green Man Festival, along with First Aid Kit and Spirtualized. The festival, which is held at in the Brecon Beacons between 17-20 August, also announced a massive raft of musically diverse names for the event.
As well as teasing the follow up to their Somewhere With Devo album, released in December, Devo also recently released their own brand of vodka, named Trust Me. A customary tongue in cheek statement from the band said: “With their synergistic mix of electronic rock, ultra-theatrical live shows and groundbreaking music videos, Devo created a multi media art assault that resonates 45+ years later. Deriving their name from De-evolution, their idea that man was de-evolving, the band sprung from humble Mid-western roots identifying with potatoes – “spuds” with eyes all around. They invite you to celebrate the spirit of De-evolution with Trust Me premium potato vodka.”
