The Orb go full drum & bass on teaser for new LP Prism, out April

Here comes Orb album number 18

The Orb are trailing their new LP with a ‘proper’ drum & bass track titled ‘Living In Recycled Times’.

The South London duo – Alex Paterson and Michael Rendall – have employed drum & bass remixers before, such as A Guy Called Gerald (‘Oxbow Lakes’), but the outfit has never gone for a fully realised track from the genre until now.

Meanwhile, the album Prism is set for release on April 28 via Cooking Vinyl, their 18th album and the third from this latest line up.

As well as ambient, house and dub they promise the abut also tangent into poetry, pop, full-blown drum & bass and “actual reggae”, with guests including David Harrow, Gaudi (whose credits include Max Romeo, Capleton, Johnny Clarke and Desmond Dekker), Youth, violinist Violeta Vicci, Kompakt records alumnus Leonardo Fresco, Metamono man Jono Podmore, guitarist and Alex’s old school chum David Lofts, plus vocalists Eric Von Skywalker, Andy Cain and Rachel D’arcy.

Also, The Orb’s 2007 album The Dream – named as the natural successor to UFORb at the time by Paterson – is being reissued in a green, double vinyl set, having been remastered. Click here to pre-order it
